    Description

    Offered is a Mbole Tribe copper anklet currency plus its custom display stand.  Made in the first half of the 20th Century, it is hand-hammered and has a natural, living dark patina. The anklet is 9.75 inches tall by 10.25 inches wide and weighs 5 pounds. On its custom stand it is 16.25 inches tall. This anklet is in excellent vintage condition. These pieces were used in commercial transactions between the tribes of central D.R. Congo. They were important elements in marriage transactions and were necessary payments for inclusion in secret societies.
