This is an amazing
traditional antique Tuareg Berber desert tent leather paneled fringed window covering which was used as a curtain in a Tuareg tent window to keep out dust, sand, bugs, sun and heat.This antique Tuareg tent curtain or window shade was handcrafted from tribally raised and tanned leather made from goat hide which has been dyed several different shades and colors. The top panel of this antique tribal tent window curtain is strung on a hand carved piece of wood and the panel is embroidered with colorful thread displaying intricate patterns and which is highlighted with some delicate white plastic vinyl floss. From this top embroidered panel of the African curtain hangs a very large amount of long colorful leather fringe with three complex leather strip panels with hand carved or engraved geometrical designs which were artistically hand cut into the leather by removing small bits of the colored or tanned top layer of the leather to make amazing contrasting designs.
The Tuareg are a fierce semi nomadic people who range across the
southern Sahara desert in Africa so being the Tuareg women are experts at packing and have always embraced functional items that display great beauty but which take up little space packed
