African BAULE MOUSE ORACLE - Cote d'Ivoire - mid 20thC Tribal Art. Baule diviners would used mouse oracles like this to foretell the future. The diviner would place food and specifically arranged sticks inside the oracle and cover it. A mouse would be placed to get to the food, disturbing the sticks, which in turn would be "read" by the diviner.
